During August this year the Post-16 Education Consortium took part at a summer school with aim to improve young people’s understanding of the needs and expectations of higher education compared to school or collage work. ‘Anelu’n Uwch’ or ‘Reaching Higher’ was held at Bangor University to prepare learners for the requirements of higher education through the medium of Welsh. The course was funded by the Coleg Cymreg Cenedlaethol, and organized by the Llandrillo Menai Group. There were a number of guest speakers taking part including poets and writers, University Lecturers and representatives from the business world. The course was based upon a Glyndŵr University accreditation, ‘Looking Forward to Higher Education’, and it’s an intention to hold a similar provision again in the future.
