On the 30th of May this year the Gwynedd and Anglesey Post-16 Consortium was officially launched by the First Minister of Wales, Carwyn Jones at the Meirionnydd Urdd Eisteddfod in Bala. During his speech the First Minister said, “I am pleased to see that EU funds are helping to forge a spirit of partnership to ensure excellence in education and training for the young people of Gwynedd and Anglesey so that they can improve their career prospects and achieve success in the work-place.”
Also present was Cllr. Siân Gwenllian, Chair of the Consortium’s Leadership Board at the time of the launch, and was heartened to see that the previous years of planning and partnership working was beginning to deliver; the Cllr. said, “We are committed to ensuring that we can offer the best possible opportunities for the area’s young people. This pioneering agreement is the culmination of much hard work and partnership working between schools, collages and Gwynedd and Anglesey Councils.
